Scott Sparvero, CEO and Co-founder

Scott Sparvero

Scott Sparvero is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of iland Internet Solutions. In 1994, Mr. Sparvero and business partner Brian Ussher took a big risk, leaving behind their already successful careers to satisfy their entrepreneurial ambitions with the founding of iland.  Since then, Mr. Sparvero and Mr. Ussher have successfully navigated iland through many changes in both the technology and business landscape.  Initially founded to develop websites, Mr. Sparvero and Mr. Ussher have continuously re-tooled and re-architected the company to stay ahead of ever changing industry requirements. Today, iland is an award-winning cloud infrastructure provider with eight datacenters across the globe and the industry’s top disaster recovery solutions.

Prior to iland, Mr. Sparvero pursued a medical degree and interned as a Research Technician at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston where he authored two research papers published in the Journal of Molecular Biology and in Regulatory Molecular Biology. Mr. Sparvero holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Boston University.

Brian Ussher, President & Co-founder

Brian Ussher

Brian Ussher is President and Co-Founder of iland Internet Solutions. Mr. Ussher co-founded iland in 1994 with Scott Sparvero, CEO. The cloud computing company was initially created to provide web application development services to small, mid-size and large organizations. In 2000, iland moved into the colocation, dedicated server and virtual hosting business in order to provide companies with flexible and secure hosting environments. This move became the catalyst for iland’s further expansion into over 50 markets throughout the United States and Europe and the company’s development of server virtualization and replication technologies. Mr. Ussher is responsible for leading and directing the company’s day-to-day activities and together with Mr. Sparvero, is responsible for iland’s strategic direction and growth as a global provider of cloud infrastructure solutions.

Prior to iland, Mr. Ussher developed software for a variety of verticals, including medical billing, construction, materials management, financial and POS systems. He also worked at Exxon, consulting and developing inter-company billing and tracking systems for core business functions such as telecommunications and document management. Mr. Ussher is well versed in Windows, Novell and UNIX systems, as well as network administration and application-level technical support.

Mr. Ussher graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Justin Giardina, CTO

Justin Giardina

Justin Giardina is the Chief Technology Officer and oversees all aspects of iland’s global technical operations and strategy including design, implementation, and support. Under Justin’s leadership, iland has established a global cloud infrastructure footprint and been first to market with innovative public, private and hybrid cloud solutions for production applications, virtual desktop and lab environments as well as business continuity and disaster recovery.

With more than 20 years’ experience in datacenter and network operations, Justin speaks regularly on several topics including security, network and server virtualization, resource optimization and performance. He is a member of the Cisco and VMware Partner Technical Advisory Boards, elite groups of technical experts that provide new ideas and constructive feedback to help develop product and service offerings that better meet the needs of customers and partners. Justin also volunteers in his spare time as a systems administrator for several Open Source Community projects. Prior to joining iland, Justin led network engineering and system administration teams for companies in the consulting and petrochemical industries.

Dante Orsini, SVP of Business Development

Dante Orsini

Dante Orsini is Senior Vice President of Business Development and is responsible for the development and continued business relationships between iland and its strategic partners including VMware®, Dell, and Cisco. Under Mr. Orsini’s leadership, iland was awarded VMware’s Service Provider Partner of the Year for the Americas. He holds a seat on the VMware Service Provider Advisory Council – an organization that guides the direction of the vCloud provider community – and holds VMware’s VSP and VTSP certifications. Mr. Orsini’s business development and sales experience positions him as a leader with the creative ability to meet both customer and partner requirements. Mr. Orsini is regarded as a thought leader on cloud infrastructure and speaks on the topic at numerous events nationally and internationally.

Mr. Orsini has 20 years of experience in sales and business development providing enterprise software, managed services, and technology consulting to enterprise, mid-market and small businesses. Prior to joining iland, Mr. Orsini was Vice President of Corporate Development at CorePlus, Inc., where he developed a successful partner and indirect channel program, which was responsible for generating 90% of the overall company revenue, and targeted ISVs, SaaS, Enterprise 2.0 companies, VARs, Master Agents, and System Integrators. Mr. Orsini also managed product development targeted at horizontal and vertical markets; including financial, transportation, medical, legal, and non-profit organizations. Prior to CorePlus, Mr. Orsini held numerous sales leadership roles within a variety of IT and technology-related businesses.

Mr. Orsini holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interpersonal Communications and Business from Bowling Green State University.

Julien Anguenot, VP of Software Engineering

Julien Anguenot serves as iland’s Vice President of Software Engineering and is responsible for the strategic vision and development of the iland Secure Cloud Console℠. Under his leadership, iland has introduced the innovative console which provides an intuitive interface that enables customers to easily ramp up cloud capabilities, control and predict costs, manage resources, maximize performance and enhance security and compliance.

Prior to joining iland, Mr. Anguenot was the Technical Co-Founder and CTO of Sofun gaming, an innovative start-up that revolutionized the betting industry on the newly regulated French market. Prior to Sofun, Mr. Anguenot held senior tech leadership positions at several open source content management vendors. Mr. Anguenot is an accomplished and organized software craftsman and open-source advocate with a creative and entrepreneurial spirit.

Frank Krieger, VP of Governance, Risk and Compliance

Frank Krieger

Frank Krieger is iland’s Vice President of Governance, Risk and Compliance, and brings over 20 years of experience specializing in virtualization and enterprises.

With Frank’s background in ITIL, COBIT and ISO 20000 for service delivery, coupled with his extensive knowledge of compliance, risk and governance regulations, he has helped to build iland’s portfolio of certifications, attestations and adherence to regulatory frameworks. While at iland, Frank has served as a CCEP, CIPP/E, CIPM and program manager of ISO 27001, CSA STAR, SSAE 16/18 and domestic and international program manager of FISMA, ITAR, EU Privacy Shield and GDRP.

Frank is also a regular contributor to publications and articles on ITIL, Compliance and IT Service, as well as GDPR. Most recently, he has been working in tandem with iland’s CTO, Justin Giardina, to address the regulatory changes of GDPR and ensure that iland’s services and products are adhering to the compliance, risk and privacy requirements mandated by GDPR.

Amy Hawthorne, VP of Marketing

Amy Hawthorne

Amy Hawthorne serves as iland’s Vice President of Marketing and is responsible for driving global marketing strategy and execution. She is responsible for all aspects of marketing, including marketing communications, product marketing, demand generation, and channel marketing.

Ms. Hawthorne is an accomplished marketing leader having held leadership roles at technology companies like Phunware, a mobile app platform company, and Rackspace, home of Fanatical Support. She has an extensive background in B2B Marketing bringing 15+ years of experience in go-to-market strategy development, messaging and positioning and revenue-driving demand generation. She has been named a Top 10 Marketer in Austin, Texas and a mentor to up and coming B2B marketers. In addition to her passion for marketing, she serves on the Board of Directors for Art From the Streets, an organization helping homeless artists get back on their feet.

Ms. Hawthorne holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas State University.
